Billing & Pricing
For merchants using the Dock Shopify app
This page explains exactly what the Dock app costs, what you are charged for, and how to get set up.
The app is free
There is no subscription fee, install fee, usage fee, or commission for the Dock Shopify app. Installing and using the app — syncing products, the storefront configurator, order submission, and fulfilment tracking — costs nothing.
What you are charged for
The only charges are the cost of goods sold: the production and delivery cost of the print products your customers order. These are charged by AGA Print Ltd, trading as Solopress — the manufacturer that prints and ships the order.
You set your own retail prices in your store. The cost of goods sold is what you pay Solopress to produce and deliver the item — it is separate from, and independent of, what you charge your customer.
How and when you are charged
- The production cost of each configured item is quoted live in the configurator, before your customer checks out, so the amount is known up front.
- When a paid order on your store is submitted to production, Solopress charges the payment card you registered during onboarding.
- Card payments are processed by Opayo, a PCI compliant payment gateway. Solopress does not store your full card details.
- You can choose to hold orders in Dock for review before releasing them to production, or let orders flow automatically into production — in which case you are charged automatically when the order enters production.
- If you have agreed account terms with Solopress, your orders can be invoiced instead of charged to a payment card.
Why this is charged outside Shopify Billing
Shopify's App Store requirements (5.5.3) require product sourcing apps to charge the cost of goods sold through a PCI compliant payment gateway, rather than through the Shopify Billing API. All other charges associated with an app must go through Shopify Billing — this app has no other charges, because it is free.
In other words: the only money that changes hands outside Shopify is what you pay Solopress to manufacture and deliver your customers' orders.
VAT
Solopress is VAT registered and VAT is applied to orders where applicable. Product pricing within Dock will show VAT where applicable.
Depending on how your store is set up, product prices can be presented to your customers inclusive or exclusive of VAT. We can configure this with you during onboarding to ensure pricing is displayed appropriately for your business and customers.
You remain responsible for how VAT is presented and charged to your customers through your own store.
API pricing
Pricing returned through Dock and the Solopress API may occasionally differ from pricing displayed on the Solopress website. This is because pricing is managed differently across the two platforms:
- Website pricing may reflect historical pricing structures, promotional activity, SEO considerations and manual or ad hoc pricing changes made over time.
- API pricing is calculated dynamically using our latest pricing algorithms and is designed to provide consistent, scalable pricing for integrated customers.
We aim to keep pricing closely aligned, but differences can occur because of system updates, data synchronisation timing or manual pricing adjustments outside the API environment.
All pricing is subject to change. Please refer to the applicable Solopress terms and conditions for full details.
Getting set up
To use the app you need a Dock account, which is provisioned by Solopress. Your account includes the API credentials you paste into the app, and the payment card that production costs are charged to.
